Our Story
In the heart of Cambridge, with the winter chill biting through even the warmest of scarves, fate decided to play matchmaker in the most unexpected way.
It was February 6, 2021, when Nani, with her trademark warmth and kindness, organized a "Family Friday" gathering, a cozy affair designed to foster connections among classmates from the Harvard Kennedy School while adhering to COVID restrictions.
Little did she know that this evening would mark the beginning of her journey with Paul. With careful consideration, Nani “randomly” assigned herself to Paul's dinner group, drawn to the mystery of a classmate she had never heard the voice of during the first semester of remote classes. Intrigued by the opportunity to finally meet him in person, she eagerly anticipated uncovering the enigma of who he was.
The evening was filled with laughter and the tantalizing aroma of Indian cuisine. As the night progressed, the festivities took an unexpected turn as Nani and Paul found themselves engaged in a lively game of beer pong, their competitive spirits igniting a playful rivalry that only served to strengthen their bond, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Their journey took an unexpected turn on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2021, in Portland, Maine. Paul, unable to resist the magnetic pull of Nani's charm, used the game 'odds are' as his not-so-subtle flirtation tool. And on that day, Nani and Paul decided to brave the -20°C/-4°F cold, express their feelings, and take the next step together.
Their love story continued to blossom and grow as they embarked on new adventures together. Over the years, Nani and Paul have traversed the globe, from the breathtaking landscapes of South Africa to the serene beauty of Joshua Tree. In August 2022, Nani and Paul decided to take another step in their journey by welcoming a golden retriever puppy named Marge into their lives, filling their home with even more love and laughter (and fur). In April 2023, the family of three moved from Cambridge to Washington, D.C., ready to embrace the next chapter of their lives together.
Their shared passion for adventure, board games and Marge, as well as the memories they have cherished over the years has only strengthened their bond. And on April 6, 2024, at Mitchell Park in Washington, D.C., Paul finally proposed, surrounded by the beauty of nature and the promise of “para sempre and always”.
